There has been a lot of different opinions about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I think most of the strong opinions is a mixture the high profile of the movie and people just wanting to stir up emotions. I don’t have a problem with it either. As I mentioned in a previous post about Transformers reviews I really don’t care about the plethora of reviews.

When I first saw the Transformers movie I was not all that excited to see it. I was not a Transformer fan and never read the comics, watched the TV shows, or even collected the die cast cars. I just wasn’t into it. So, when the first movie came out I was not that excited to see it. I didn’t get caught up in the hype. After I saw it, however, I was completely blown away. Not by the Transformers themselves (although Bumble Bee is freakin awesome!), but by the movie itself.

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen – The Most Anticipated Movie Ever

At least for me anyway. I can’t remember waiting so excitedly, and anxiously, about a movie. I don’t remember anticipating any of the Star Wars sequels, Friday the 13th movies, or even Terminator movies as much as I did this new Transformers movie.

Because of the way that people would write about it, seek information about it, watch the trailers for it, and contemplate on it, I knew that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was incredibly anticipated. Which is one of the reasons so many different opinions about the movie came out.

What I Liked About It

Getting into my review I will this; no matter what anyone else says, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is BY FAR my favorite movie ever made. Saying that, I will say that there were some things that could have been left out and it wouldn’t have taken away from the overall movie.

But, this is about the things I did like.

The overall movie, when taken as a whole, was simply amazing. I could go on an on with superlatives and adjectives galore. But, the bottom line is that it was amazing. I do think that no matter what people say, you can not get away from the sheer magnitude of the scope of the movie. I remember sitting in the movie theater the first time I saw it and the time flew by. I literally couldn’t believe this movie was over 2 hours in length. It flew by!

I loved the reality of the movie. What I mean by that is nothing looked fake. The robots were lifelike, and the action scenes were so well done you thought it was actual footage. When my wife says that she liked an action movie with robots that transform from cars, that is saying something. The biggest reasons was because it was so real.

The humor was funny. A lot of action movies have a lot of corny lines that try too hard to be funny too. As great as Terminator was, it had some awkward scenes that tried to be funny. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has a lot of genuinely funny scenes. And contrary to opinions, it doesn’t take away from the movie. For example, there is a part in the movie where the kitchen appliances are transformed and attack Sam and his family.

Transformers 2 – When Appliances Attack!

Throughout the movie there are these little clips, little anecdotes, smart alec replies, and situations that are just hilarious. Again, even my wife had fits of laughter.

I loved the action! The only reason to watch a movie like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is for the action. The robots, fight scenes, explosions, car chases, and all the other chaotic situations make the Transformers movie what they are. Amazing experiences of action sequences. The action in this one far surpasses the first. It was non stop. You don’t have a chance to breathe or even get up to use the bathroom.

And, for the last bit that I loved about the movie is that I thought the acting was rather great for an action movie. Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro, and newcomer Ramon Rodriguez were simply great in their roles. Each had a different type of part to play in the film, and I feel they acted the roles out perfectly.

My favorite in the film is John Turturro who plays Agent Simmons. His character is pure gold. However, Leo Spitz (played by Rodriguez) was a great fresh face that added a lot to the movie.

What I Did Not Like

While this movie is my all time favorite, there was some things that I wish made the cutting room floor. When I went to watch the movie for the first time at the movie theater I took my nine year old son with me. Halfway through I had wished I hadn’t.

The sexuality in this movie was much higher than the first. It felt like they were trying to make Megan Fox the reason to see it. The increased use of foul language was not something that I was happy for. Not that there were any F-Bombs, but there was just some things I don’t want my nine year old to hear.

Other than that, I am very happy with the movie.

Stupid Complaints

To me, a lot of the complaints of the movie were just a little stupid. One complaint that I heard from a lot of people was that they wanted to see more Autobots. Well, in a movie that is labeled as the Revenge of the Fallen, it would seem there would be a lot more Decepticons than Autobots. But, at least that is what I thought.

Another weird complaint was that the fight scenes were too chaotic and over the top. What?!!! It’s a Michael Bay film. It’s going to be over the top. That’s the reason so many people rejoiced that he signed on for it. Dude, I would have been severely disappointed if there wasn’t as much action associated with this movie.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Is On DVD

If you haven’t seen it yet, you need to get this DVD. It’s funny that my teen daughter and I actually argued about who was going to buy it first; me or her. I won.

For me, this movie is an epic experience. It is the standard that I now judge other movies by. I can’t help it. Now, when I see a movie that I have been waiting for, I compare it to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

I highly recommend this movie for anyone. Although you might want to use some parental guidance when you have young children.

There are some initial reviews of the new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen movie that are starting to come online. The folks at IGN Uk and TotalFilm have seen the film and have offered their reviews. And I could really care less.

The IGN site had this to say…

“Epic, spectacular but unfortunately far, far too long; the film proves that when it comes to Michael Bay blockbuster movies, you can have too much of a good thing.”

TotalFilm said this…

“Fallen so frequently approaches the first pic’s all-out awesomeness, and even occasionally surpasses it – notably in an opening blitzkrieg in Shanghai and a forest face-off between Optimus Prime and three Decepticons – that it’s this close to being the perfect summer flick.”

You can see two different types of reviews. One that seems a little negative of the movie and one that, while isn’t a glowing review, is a little more pleased with it. And I say “Who cares?”

While I certainly appreciate someone else’s opinion, it isn’t going to sway me one way or the other as to what I think about the film. I have said before that I feel, without any hesitation, that the first Transformers movie is my favorite movie. There is no doubt in my mind that the second installment, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, is going to be my second favorite.

I will say that I don’t particularly like long movies. I think that’s the main reason I wasn’t all that happy with The Dark Knight. There has to be a lot of action going on to make the movie feel like it’s moving along instead of stalling out in the middle. If this does happen then it will put a bit of a damper on it for me, but I don’t foresee that happening.

The summer movie season is upon us and this year looks like a major year for turning out the box office hits. Getting things started with movies like X-Men Wolverine and Star Trek and showing no signs of letting up, this could be one of the biggest years in some time.

I’m looking forward to a lot of movies, but I thought I would let you know what five movies I’m looking forward to the most in 2009. They will be listed in no particular order, but there is one that I absolutely can’t wait to see and I would gladly miss every one of the movies this year, if I was only able to see just one.

Drag Me To Hell just looks like it might be one of those horror films that actually is a horror film. I am sick of the promises from trailers and movie news that promise there will be plenty of scary moments only to be a gore fest instead of something truly horrific. I’m hoping that Drag Me To Hell is that movie of 2009. Last year Quarantine set the bar pretty high for horror movies. Can this one top it?

Drag Me To Hell stars Alison Lohman as a bank representative who is sent to evict a creepy old woman from her home. It only gets worse from there.

Up didn’t look like a movie I wanted to see when it first came out. I do like animated films and enjoy them when they are made with great care and quality. Bolt is one of those great movies that is fun and you can tell had some passion behind it. The creators really wanted to put together something that will be an instant classic. I am hoping that Pixar’s newest Up is that same thing.

The trailers are pretty funny and the film shorts from the movie leave you with a desire to see more.

When it comes to movies that are about history, have action, and star some pretty heavy hitters, I am there. Public Enemis starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale looks to be one of the big movies of the year and one I must see.

Set in the 1930′s, the film takes on the enigmatic John Dillinger (Depp) and his gang as they terrorize banks on an unprecedented crime spree. But, hot on their heels is FBI agent Melvin Purvis (Bale) who has the task to take him, and his gang, down.

I love movies set in this time and am hoping that like several others, Public Enemies is all I hope it to be.

G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra is one I was hoping would be made ever since I was 10. The animated versions were ok, but I wanted something real. Something with some teeth on it. Something… well, like what is coming up on Aug. 7th.

While I probably wouldn’t have put Dennis Quaid in the lead role, I think he will do ok. The action sequences from the official G.I. Joe trailer look pretty good, I am hoping that the story line is a little better than the trailer lets on.

G.I. Joe is such an American icon that pulling off something like this has to take on a life of it’s own. But, it also has to deliver. While I can’t wait for the action in the movie, I am hoping that this movie breeds a whole new G.I. Joe market for kids (so I can get them for my son and enjoy them also!). Maybe not going to be the biggest movie this year, but I think we’ll all be surprised at how well it does against the heavy hitters of 2009.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is the movie of 2009. If I could only see one movie this entire year… and maybe even for the next two… this would be it.

I have been waiting for the sequel to the original Transformers
,which is my favorite movie of all time, immediately after it was finished.

Being released on June 24th, Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Bumblebee, Optimus Prime and a host of other Autobots and Decepticons are sure to be the biggest movie of all time. I am going out on a limb, probably not that much of a limb though, to say that this second Transformers movie will overtake The Dark Knight in Box Office earnings.

I’ve been waiting ever since the first Transformers movie ended to watch the next one and I can’t wait June 24th for Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen.

And with that a new trailer has been released that shows us that this one is going to be a little more adventurous than the first. The same action, just a little Sahara-esque.

Michael Bay let it out on his twitter stream that the run time for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is going to be just under 2 and a 1/2 hours.

All I have to say about this is…. awesome!

I usually can’t stand long movies. I felt that The Dark Knight was entirely too long. But, with the explosive action and robots taking over the screen I don’t think the run time will be that much of an issue. It could probably be five hours long and still feel like it wasn’t long enough!

One of the things that people are wondering about in the upcoming Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is what robots are going to be included. Rumors have been circulating that there are going to be at least 60 different robots in the film!

It would seem that Paramount is trying to get things moving along a little faster than some people would like. Michael Bay, the director for the first two Transformer movies is now saying that Paramount made a mistake.

Bay, who posted on his own forum the little date snafu, says that he did agree to an Independence week opening. The only thing is that it is actually in 2012! That’s a little more like it.

Stating that after final wrap ups are completed for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen he wanted to take some time off to recuperate from the hectic schedule they’ve been on. But, in order to meet a 2011 release date he would have to start production in September. And that’s just not gonna happen. “No way,” writes Bay. “I said I was taking a year off from Transformers.”

I don’t blame him. The intensity that must go into making a film the magnitude of Transformers must be off the charts!

I can only hope that Paramount isn’t serious about this 2011 business. I think it will hurt the movie, and I do believe that if they want to continue on this that they might lose Bay as the director. And that just won’t do.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is scheduled to make an appearance on June 24th. I probably won’t be able to wait another three years, but if it means a better movie… I’ll have to suffer.

The news has been leaked that Paramount and Dreamworks have announced that a third Transformers movie will be released in 2011.

Now, I’m all for as many Transformer movies as they want to make. If word came down that Transformers 145 was going to released in 2031 I would be absolutely fine with it. But, I worry about movies that are scheduled for a release date even before the previous one has been premiered. There are just too many variables that you don’t know yet.

However, the news has come out that July 1, 2011 is the date for a third installation in the Transformers series. It is not clear who will be directing, starring, or writing it… but it is is scheduled for release in two years. Shouldn’t be a problem.
