Vin Diesel Is Riddick For A Third Time

There are some movies that you never get tired of. Vin Diesel is now ready to get started with the third Riddick film.

News is a little sketchy right now, but Variety does say that this Chronicles of Riddick movie will focus more on Riddick himself rather than the universe as a whole. This will hopefully mean that we get to see more of what we watch the movies for instead of all the drama crap.

Fast And Furious Number Five Filming Later This Year

There are movies that you just do not want to end. The Fast and the Furious franchise has to be one of them. The only problem with them making more ‘Fast and Furious’ movies is that you never know what you are going to get.

With the previous four ‘Fast and Furious’ movies, they were all over the place as far as quality, fun, and general story line went. The first and fourth installments are the best of the movies already made with the two in the middle less than desirable.

Now, the news has broke that a new ‘Furious’ will begin filming later this year. The good news is that both Vin Diesel and Paul Walker have signed on for another go round. The director, Justin Lin, has also agreed to work on the film.

While this does not guarantee a stellar production, it does give a fan something to look forward to in terms of this fifth account not falling into the void. I am expecting something pretty good. What about you?

Fast and Furious Movie Review

I finally got a chance to get a look at Fast and Furious 4 the other night and am quite happy with the whole movie experience.

While it’s not the best of the series, it does bring the series back to the originality of what the first one introduced audiences to. With the first in the series we were introduced to Dom Toretto, Mia Toretto, Letty, and Agent Brian O’Connor. It was a feast for the eyes and for the action oriented movie lover. There were cars, suspense, racing, edge, explosions, and a thrilling ending.

The second and third had some of that, but not a lot of it. They definitely didn’t have the edge of the first one. With Fast and Furious 4 that was brought back. Sort of. While this is the first movie to reunite the original cast of Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, and Michele Rodriguez, it fell a little short of the excitement of the first. There were some dull spots where you just wanted the movie to get to the cars.

This movie picks up with Dom and Letty in the Domincan Republic continuing their smuggling and hijacking ways. However, Dom leaves because the heat is getting a little close. This is where the first twist is introduced in the movie. (Yes, this is something new to the series. The others didn’t have any type of plot twists. What you saw is what you got.) Through the course of circumstances Dom and Brian are brought back together in order to drive for a drug smuggler that the FBI has been trying to capture.

Wherein there is another little “what the….!” moment thrown in there too that could possibly ruin the entire thing.

The plot was pretty good for a Fast/Furious movie. Of course, not much of one is really needed if the action and the cars are appealing. And they were. Dom’s original Dodge Charger is back (which I would pick over any import any day!) and so is the fast and furious action associated with street racing.

I did like how the majority of the story focused on the original cast. There isn’t that many new people in the story, and those just compliment the story line. The relationship, or lack thereof, between Dom and Brian is really stretched through this movie and I think played itself out pretty good.

The acting was appropriate for this type of movie. I feel Vin Diesel does a great job bringing back Dom and he looked very, very intimidating. Paul Walker tried to be the cool guy while missing the mark just a little. He came off as a little fake, and starchy at times. But, if you weren’t trying to analyze the movie, and just experienced it for what it is, it’s a pretty good movie.

While estimates are good for the initial weekend (over $70 million in box office receipts), I’m hoping that the movie doesn’t lose steam like Watchmen did.

Fast and Furious 4 was a fun, entertaining movie that I think captured the essence and originality of the first. Definitely a movie worth watching.

Could Vin Diesel be xXx’s Xander Cage again?

Could it really be?

Vin Diesel says that the plans are already in the works for him to reprise his role as Xander Cage in xXx. But, didn’t… he… die???

In the short film appearing in the Director’s Cut DVD of xXx killed of Diesel’s character Cage to make room for the sequel and the newest xXx character played by Ice Cube in xXx: State of the Union.

In the film short we see a body double of Cage run into a building which then explodes. Cage’s scalp, with his signature xXx tattoo on it then lands among the debris. If you didn’t see that version, then you eventually find out about his death in the sequel as Samuel L. Jackson’s character is talking to Ice Cube’s character.

Diesel says about the death of Cage, “That has been [rectified]. Rob Cohen found a way to. [He] has incorporated that into the story years ago. It’s just now that he’s implementing it. It’s now that he’s using it.”

Diesel says he will come back as Cage as long as that’s what the fans want. Dude, I wanted you to come back for the sequel! A xXx movie without Vin Diesel just doesn’t seem right.

Vin Diesel is Riddick Again In Riddick 3

Vin Diesel is coming back again as Riddick in a 3rd Chronicles of Riddick movie. I, for one, am very excited about this news!

Recently, during a conversation about the upcoming game, Dark Athena based on the same character, Vin let the news out that they are in production of a third movie which stars Diesel as Riddick.

Diesel said. “It is underway and I almost think it’s a coincidence that we haven’t heard anything, that there hasn’t been a lot of public stuff on the ‘Riddick’ movie.”

I like Vin Diesel’s movies. Of course Fast and the Furious are fun to watch and get you thinking about buying a Charger (not much into chainsaw sounding cars), and I even liked The Pacifier. At the same time, both Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, while a different genre all together and have their own audience and fans, were ok movies. I am still excited about seeing Diesel come back as Riddick for another throwdown!
