The year of the remake continues with the release of the 1984 classic The Karate Kid. The new 2010 version is starring the combination of Jackie Chan as Mr. Han, the Mr. Miyagi of the new version, and Jaden Smith who is portraying Dre Parker.

While I am not sold on the need for a new Karate Kid movie I do think that the trailer looks pretty good. Maybe we shouldn’t call it a complete remake. After all, the characters and setting are changed. The story is basically similar, but it just isn’t The Karate Kid without Mr. Miyagi and Daniel-san.

When you look at remakes (and there are a lot of them today), the one that I am looking forward to is Nightmare on Elm Street. I was not a big fan of the originals and am glad that somebody has some vision for this new reboot of the film.

This new remake is scheduled to be releases on April 30th, and judging from the trailer alone, it could be much better than the previous ’80′s version.

I remember when the series, Avatar: The Last Airbender started on Nickelodeon. My kids loved it. They watched every single episode. Looked at all the websites. Even bought the series on DVD. I didn’t start watching it until last summer. Then I became hooked.

When the news broke about an Avatar movie, I thought this would be good. However, it was for a slightly different Avatar movie. But, then shortly after, it was revealed that there was, in fact, an Avatar: The Last Airbender movie being made. Both movies were being directed by top quality directors. Both had the label ‘epic’.

We’ve already seen the first Avatar, now it is time for the second. A trailer has been released that would only describe this other Avatar as truly ‘epic’ in scope.

As you can see, this is much different than the James Cameron film. While this is not on another planet, it is fantasy. My only hope in this movie, directed by M. Night Shyamalan (so glad I could write that and not have to say it!) is that the original story line is kept intact. We don’t need any tinkering with it. We don’t need any type of “creative discretion”.

From the looks of the Avatar: The Last Airbender trailer, it is pretty close to the first season. Maybe that means several more?

Synopsis from IMDB; Water. Earth. Fire. Air. In the old days, there was peace between the four nations of the world. The Avatar — Master of all four elements — kept peace between the the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads. Only the Avatar has the ability to Bend (manipulate) all four elements, but one day, he Vanished. Then the Fire Nation attacked, forcing a war on the other three nations for one hundred years. Now, for the good of the world, it’s up to 12-year-old Aang (Noah Ringer), the new Avatar, and the last of the Air Nomads (Airbenders), to return peace and balance by putting an end to the war and mastering all four elements. Aang must accept his destiny by stopping the Fire Nation’s war and defeating the Fire Lord for good.

Film is set to release on July 2, 2010.

Ninja Assassin looks better and better each time I see a new TV spot for it. I would love to check it out Thanksgiving night when it comes out, but I will be spending time with family. However, the next night… I’m there!

Each time I see a new TV Spot for the Ninja Assassin movie I get a little more excited about it. Now, it doesn’t look to be just a movie with a lot of ninja stuff going on, but a movie with some story, style, and a lot of fun. Enjoy!

I don’t care if the movie stinks. The freakin’ trailer is awesome!

Ninja Assassin, set to be released November 25th, looks like your normal martial arts action movie, but with a lot more cool ninja stuff! I actually first saw the trailer while watching a basketball game with my son the other night. After the Ninja Assassin trailer was over we just looked at each other and said in that Tommy Boy style… “That. Was. Awweeessssoommmeee.!”
