While I am not a big fan of the franchise my son is waiting rather anxiously for the release of this new reboot. The poster does add a little bit of anticipation as to what to expect. The scars across the chest alludes to some sort of imminent battle and butt-kicking for the web slinger.

THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Dennis Leary. It will start showing in theaters on July 3, 2012.

This Superman reboot has every fan holding their breath as to how well the final picture is actually going to be. For myself, I hope it is a cinematical masterpiece that exceeds all expectations. And, of course, action. Full on action.

Anyway, the Superman Homepage has some evidence that the movie is actually getting underway. They have posted what is said to be the structures for Clark Kent’s hometown of Smallville.

As you can see from the photos the buildings look they are built to resemble buildings that have sustained damage. Damage from what? Did Superman do it? We can only guess for now.

Man of Steel is going to have a star studded cast in Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond and Christopher Meloni. Plans are for a December 2012 release.

Warner Brothers might be on the verge of a bad one. It seems that the movie company is in talks with Robert Zemekis to direct a remake of the beloved classic of The Wizard of Oz.

As the continuing trend of remakes is going forward with ever increasing vitality there isn’t going to be any movie that is safe. One of the bright shining points of this proposal to remake the MGM classic The Wizard of Oz is that it is going to based completely on the original script. Many of today’s remakes do not resemble the original, so this would be a breath of fresh air. But, remake The Wizard of Oz?

Isn’t there any other ideas that can be told?

While I am not sold on the need for a new Karate Kid movie I do think that the trailer looks pretty good. Maybe we shouldn’t call it a complete remake. After all, the characters and setting are changed. The story is basically similar, but it just isn’t The Karate Kid without Mr. Miyagi and Daniel-san.

I was not a big fan of the originals and am glad that somebody has some vision for this new reboot of the film.

This new remake is scheduled to be releases on April 30th, and judging from the trailer alone, it could be much better than the previous ’80′s version.

But, besides all the movie reboots, filming in 3D is starting to get a little annoying. I don’t know, maybe it is because all I can think of is wearing those stupid cardboard cut out glasses, but 3D just does not appeal to me. Even if it is Spider-Man.

However, the news that James Cameron is interested in working with the director of the upcoming Spidey flick, Marc Webb. While it is not really in cement that the movie will be a complete reboot (just leave it alone!), the news about Cameron’s involvement might just make this the best Spider-Man yet. We’ll see.

It isn’t suppose to be in production until later this year with a release date set for sometime in 2012.

As far as the role of Marshall Dillon – that incredible television role played by James Arness in Gunsmoke – neither Brad Pitt or Ryan Reynolds would come to mind.

According to some recent ‘Gunsmoke’ movie news it seems that both Pitt and Reynolds are high on the list of highly popular actors who are in the running for the lead role.

For those who are too young to have watched the long running Gunsmoke series, you missed out on a good series. Marshall Matt Dillon stood tall above the Kansas prairies as the lone source of justice. Somehow, I do not see either Brad Pitt or Ryan Reynolds as Dillon.

Don’t get me wrong. I love both Pitt and Reynolds. I think that they do an amazing job in their respective niches. Brad Pitt as the scheming psychopath or high class con artist. Reynolds pretty much has the hokey comedy scene down pat, and can even do a great job in a horror remake. But, an iconic western?

Reports are that CBS Films wants to bring the ‘Gunsmoke’ franchise back and more contemporary. While I would be the first to say, “Oh, heck yeah!”, I feel that they need to find another top quality actor that can match the historical aspect of Dillon, can play an action part, and has deep connection with the character.

Seeing Kevin Costner in this type of role would not be too much of a stretch. Neither would someone like Harrison Ford, or even Bruce Willis. Now, that would be an idea! Get rid of Pitt and Reynolds. Bring in someone like Bruce Willis to shake Dillon up a little and add to the authenticity of the period.

Of course, this is still all up in the air. There is no director that has stepped up to the plate and sign on for this project yet. Hopefully it will get a little bit of life and begin growing. But, Pitt? Reynolds?
