Three Great iPhone Apps For Watching Movies!

Having been a Blackberry user for the last three years, I say this with a little bit of sadness. But… I love my iPhone! I’ve only had it for two months and I think it is the greatest thing I’ve EVER owned.

With my new iPhone 4 I can do everything that I could with my Blackberry. The only thing is… I can do it quicker and much easier. One of the ways that I find myself using my new iPhone a lot is in consuming media. This goes for books, blog posts, magazines (The Zinio app is great), news (through different apps), and movies.

The thought of watching a full movie on a small screen wasn’t something that I believed I would like. However, after watching several movies – from iTunes and DVD conversion, I have to say that I do not notice the smaller screen that much. The reason, I think, is because it is very convenient to hold the device – anywhere – and watch your movie.

I have laid in bed and watched Grown Ups. I have sat on my porch, in the coolness of the evening, and gone through Red. And, I have recently watched Toy Story 3 with my kids as we camped in the backyard.

Watching movies is quite easy with the vast array of apps that are available. Here are three of the ones that I love to use, and use frequently.

1. Netflix iPhone AppThe Netflix iPhone App is quite simply, awesome. From this app I can search for movies, see the latest additions, look through my Instant Queue, resume watching a movie I couldn’t get through before, and even see several recommendations from movies that I’ve already watched. This app is free at the iTunes Store.

2. Hulu Plus – One of the reasons that I upgraded to Hulu Plus was my iPhone. The Hulu Plus iPhone app is free at the iTunes Store and allows you the ability to access your queue, search for new movies and TV shows, and even resume watching something you didn’t have time for earlier.

3. Crackle Movies and TV – This free app is another one that I use to watch a movie now and then. They are all movies that I have seen before, but it is nice to revisit some of the classics. They continue to make improvements with the app, and the service, so that newer, better quality movies are included within the library.

Those are the iPhone movie apps that I use on a frequent basis. What about you? How do you watch movies, or TV, on your iPhone?
