Surprises at Box Office leaves Watchmen losing momentum

watchmenpic1 The tally’s are in and it looks like Watchmen loses out to Disney’s Race to Witch Mountain.

I wasn’t going to write another post about the box office take for this past weekend, but I am really quite surprised at the outcome. After all the reviews from critics, and the people who have actually gone and seen it, Race to Witch Mountain sounded like a huge flop. So, I am a little, no.. actually quite, disturbed that it was able to topple Watchmen.

I’m also counting in to the equation that I really liked Watchmen and believe that it is a must-see type of movie.

Taking in just a paltry 18 million over the weekend, Watchmen seems to have lost any type of momentum and looks to go into an early grave. While, I can’t quite understand why, Race to Witch Mountain brought in $25 million to lead the box office in gross earnings.

Can Watchmen regain its composure or is it going to continue getting beat each week by the newest upcoming movies. I’d like to see it make a comeback, but I have a feeling that people are waiting for it to come out on DVD.
