It’s a new week and a new batch of great movies are being released on DVD and Blu-Ray. And I would be pretty confident in saying that this week has been one of the most anticipated in a long time.

While there are a quite a few releases coming this week, these are the highlights.

New Releases

Twilight – Yes, all you vampire romance fans, the day you’ve been waiting for since the first time you opened the Stephanie Meyer novel is here. Your beloved Twilight is on DVD on March 21st. The movie, which is a screenplay adaptation of the first novel in the Twilight series of books landed in theaters in Nov. ’08 and was an instant classic. While, the reviews are mixed, even among fans, it is still one of the biggest movies of the year.

Punisher 2 War Zone – I missed this one at the theater, but will be catching it as soon as the DVD gets here. It is being released tomorrow, March 17th, and hopefully is better than the first Punisher. Quick synopsis – After hunting down and killing hundreds of violent criminals, Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, faces his most deadly foe yet: Jigsaw.

Barbie Presents: Thumbelina My youngest daughter has already made it very clear that she wants this movie. I guess you have to be a seven year old girl to truly appreciate Barbie.

Goal 2: Living the Dream This movie continues the dramatic and exciting journey of Santiago Munez (Kuno Becker), a small town kid who continues to live his dream of becoming a professional soccer player. When he is traded to Real Madrid and must deal with the trials and triumphs of playing on one of soccer s biggest stages.

The Velveteen Rabbit In this brand new feature film, one of the most beloved family tales of all tiem comes to life in an enchanting combination of live – action drama and animated adventure. It’s the story of a young boy named Toby who is sent by his busy father to spend the holiday season in the home of his stern grandmother. Toby’s world instantly changes when he discovers the house’s ‘magic attic’ where three forgotten toys – including a special stuffed rabbit – unlock a world of imagination that will change all their lives forever.
