An adaptation of Conan is being considered for TV.
Here’s a little bit of news that just might be ok amidst the rumors of studios wanting to remake classics into new original movies. This isn’t really a remake, but something that I have been waiting for ever since I was 12 years old. Conan might possibly be coming to TV.
While it is not confirmed as a definite thing, but someone claiming to be involved in the British television industry has leaked a rumor stating that some of the people behind Rome are considering adapting an unspecified Conan story into a television special.
If this has anything to do with putting Conan into an HBO miniseries, or even a regular series, like that of the HBO series Rome, then I’m totally stoked.
Besides the movies chronicling the life of the barbarian named Conan, I have also been a big fan of the comics by and novels by Robert E. Howard. One of the best things about this rumor is that the production of the new series will be based solely on these works. The original Conan and not the movie Conan. This has me thinking in a little of different way, all of which are great.
It will be nice to be a televised adaptation of this mythical hero who many have grown up maybe secretly wanting to be. I do hope it turns out to be a lot better than the Hercules series starring Kevin Sorbo.
I hope the rumors are true. And even so, I’m now going to start brushing up on my Conan lore with the Conan Graphic Novels.
