Transporter 3 DVD Review

transporter3 Staying true to what has made Jason Statham a household name, Transporter 3 is an amazing thrill ride with adrenaline inducing martial arts and car chases.

Really, is there anything else you want from a Statham movie?

The simple plot is that Statham reprises his role as Frank Martin and puts the driving gloves on to deliver Valentina, the kidnapped daughter of a Ukranian government official, from Marseilles to Odessa on the Black Sea. En route, he has to contend with thugs who want to intercept Valentina’s safe delivery and not let his personal feelings get in the way of his dangerous objective.

Weaved throughout the entire movie is a great collection of fights and car chases that are sometimes out of your seat cool. Especially the fight scenes. One thing that must remain intact with a good action movie is the quality of the action. And Transporter 3 is constant in providing great action scenes.

Of course, don’t expect any Academy Award winning performances here either. The plot is very simple – drive fast, kick butt, capture bad guy, have some fun along the way – and isn’t trying to be too overly sophisticated. It is what it is. An action movie about a guy, his car, and a girl.

Also in the movie is Robert Knepper, from the Fox television hitPrison Break, and he does a great job as the bad guy. And he isn’t speaking in that annoying southern accent as he does in Prison Break, just a normal US accent. His role as Johnson is one that calls for someone who can act ruthlessly and make it convincing. Knepper delivers.

Of course there is Frank’s cop friend, Inspector Tarconi, played be veteran actor Francois Berleand, to add the usual laidback, non-chalant humor that we expect from him by now.

All in all, Transporter 3 is a solid action movie that won’t really disappoint anyone who likes Jason Statham and the Transporter series.

You can pick up a copy of the Transporter 3 DVD on March 10th.
