One of the biggest movie franchises ever to be created is now rumored to be going into production for a live TV series. Can the world of movies get any better?

Star Wars is now rumored to be holding auditions for the production of a live action TV series. What is being hailed as a mix between Deadwood and the Sopranos is now casting for a wide range of parts.

I, for one, am extremely excited about this news! I can’t wait to see what this will turn into. Yes, we have the animated Clone War series on Cartoon Network, but that’s just not the same. Since I was a wee little one, and grew up with Buck Rogers and Battlestar Galactica (of which the newest version is the ultimate in television series) I have always thought a Star Wars tv show would be an amazing hit.

As far as the Deadwood/Sopranos comparison, I don’t know what that means exactly but it would make the show a little more adult than the movie counterparts.

It seems that a few years ago George Lucas wanted to turn his attention towards more television oriented series and stated that there would be two Star Wars themed series. We all know about the first series, (the animated version) and now it is being stated that a live action show will be either in 2009 or 2010. It has also been said that there will be a lot of familiar faces. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to turn down a chance of working with Lucas or on the Star Wars series.
