‘Watchmen’ breaks through $55 million taking box office top spot
The motion picture adaptation of the graphic novel Watchmen has just taken over the top spot in the weekend’s box office reports by bringing in a very respectable %55.7 million in its opening weekend. This officially makes the newest superhero movie the biggest film in 2009.
Even though some people are trying to compare both of Zack Snyder’s films to each other and how much they are making during their opening weekend, Dan Fellman, head of distribution for “Watchmen” studio Warner Bros., said it was unfair to compare the two film.
Fellman said that both 300 and Watchmen are two different movies. “This is a movie that runs two hours and 45 minutes. That really only leaves the exhibitor with one showing a night. If you have an 8 o’clock show, the next show is at midnight. So with essentially one show a night, I think this is outstanding.”
While time will tell how the movie plays out with the all-time box office list, I think it will probably come out ok.
