Watchmen Opens With $25 Million First Night Run
The screen adaptation of the best selling graphic novel of all time, Watchmen has begun its box office run with an opening night take of a very impressive $25 million. That is in excess of the $4.5 million that it took in with the Thursday midnight showings and IMAX showings.
While that is an incredible start to the movie it is still going to have to have a powerhouse weekend to beat the original Zack Snyder film, 300 which had an opening weekend of $70 million.
Can it do it? Will Watchmen become the newest biggest March movie ever? If the word of mouth spreads about the movie, and people go back to see it again… maybe. I have to admit I haven’t seen it yet. I’m hoping to make it out tonight.
What about you? Have you seen it? What did you think of it?
